How to invite a helper who hates apps

Some grandparents will be fine on their own. For the rest, twenty minutes at the kitchen table does it.

  1. Do it together, in person, on their phone.
  2. Send the invite to the email they actually check, then open it with them.
  3. When the app asks to send notifications, tap Allow. That’s the whole point.
  4. Take on their first pickup together, so they’ve done it once.
  5. If the text is small, make it bigger: Settings, then Display & Brightness, then Text Size.
  6. Tell them the one rule: when your phone buzzes with Kid Pickup, it’s about the kids.
  7. Keep their regular days on paper on the fridge too. Belt and braces.

Does Grandma have to pay?

No. One subscription covers everyone in your family circle.

What does she see?

The pickups that still need someone and the ones she’s taken, the kids on those, and your emergency contacts. Not the rest of your week. She can take on pickups but can’t change the schedule; that’s for parents and guardians.

What if she doesn’t have an iPhone?
