Kid Pickup vs Nuggget
Nuggget and Kid Pickup set out to do the same job: get a real person to say yes to each pickup. They go about it differently, and they’re at different stages. Nuggget is a free beta; Kid Pickup is on the App Store.

Nuggget
A kids’ pickup and drop-off app in open beta, from Safe House Studio in Connecticut.
What it does well
- Type a request as a sentence and it builds the pickup.
- A helper says yes once to a weekly series and gets a reminder before each one.
- Helpers without the app get a plain text message.
- “Can’t make it” sends the pickup back to the parent.
- Free while it’s in beta, and on Android through Google Play.
Where it stops
- Not on the App Store yet. On iPhone you join its beta through TestFlight.
- Its site says it isn’t a shared calendar: it works alongside one.
- Helpers see only the pickups they were asked to cover, so each pickup goes to a person by name.
- Its Google Play listing says it collects location, and promises automatic arrival alerts.
What Kid Pickup does instead
- On the App Store for iPhone.
- Leave a pickup open for anyone in your circle, or ask one person by name.
- If nobody has a pickup, the app sends parents and guardians a nudge the day before, three hours out and two hours out.
- Type a pickup as a sentence, and say yes to every day of a repeating pickup in one tap.
- A family calendar and family chat, with grandparents who see the week and sitters who see only their pickups.
- Never asks for anyone’s location.
